Dolphins Find Cost For No. 2 Pick Too High

Jun 3, 2014 10:25 AM

The Dolphins, who have the eighth overall pick, aren't too motivated to trade up to No. 2 and select quarterback Robert Griffin III. A team source told The South Florida Sun-Sentinel that the Rams are asking for a bundle of picks equivalent to the value of the No. 1 overall pick in the draft.

The Rams are officially willing to move the second overall pick in April's NFL Draft. Kevin Demoff, the team's COO, said Tuesday that they would make a deal under the right circumstances, but they have not made any commitments. "I think coach [Jeff] Fisher and Les [Snead] have been upfront that we will listen to offers for the #2 pick," Demoff said. "I didn't see anything in the report that differed from their statements." League sources have indicated that St. Louis has decided to trade the selection.

Agent Says Scott Hasn't Received Permission To Seek Trade

Oct 31, 2014 8:37 AM

The Jets have reportedly given Bart Scott and his agent permission to seek a trade from the team. The linebacker was "extremely frustrated" with his role this past season, according to agent Harold Lewis. Scott has played three seasons with New York. Lewis claimed he didn't request a trade and nor has he received permission to seek one. However, that could be a matter of semantics at this point. Scott's "ultimate goal" is to stay with the Jets, according to the agent, who added: "If we can't fix what's broken, there will be other opportunities."

Jets Give Bart Scott Permission To Seek Trade

Oct 31, 2014 1:28 PM

The Jets have given Bart Scott permission to seek a trade to another team. The linebacker has three years remaining on the six-year, $48 million contract he signed in 2009. Scott grew increasingly unhappy with his diminished playing time during New York's disappointing 8-8 season. He was routinely taken out on third downs due to the team's belief that he had difficulty in coverage.

Eagles Could Make Run At No. 2 Pick

Oct 22, 2014 9:15 AM

The Rams are expected to trade the second overall pick in April's NFL Draft and the Eagles may be a potential trading partner. Phil Sheridan of the Philadelphia Inquirer writes that the team shouldn't be ruled out as Robert Griffin III could be a fit. "It has been correctly noted that the Eagles' commitment to Michael Vick really ends after the 2012 season," Sheridan writes. "The structure of that contract was one of the reasons many people believed Reid deserved to be back for at least one more season." "Maybe there will be a Luck or a Griffin in the 2013 draft, when the Eagles might have to find their next QB. Maybe not. If the Eagles really believe Griffin is that special talent who can lead a team to a Super Bowl, this is the one and only time to get him," he continued.

Packers Won't Tag Flynn To Set Up Trade

May 24, 2014 6:07 PM

The Packers are not likely to use the franchise tag on backup quarterback Matt Flynn in order to engineer a sign-and-trade scenario, according to a report. Under league rules, Green Bay could apply the franchise tag to Flynn and then trade him rather than simply letting him become a free agent. "(The Packers) don't do business that way," a league source said. It's prohibited for teams to agree to such a deal before the franchise tag deadline, and one unnamed NFL team executive said that would be farther than Ted Thompson is willing to go. "(Thompson) doesn't bend the rules," the executive said.
