The Jets have reportedly given Bart Scott and his agent permission to seek a trade from the team. The linebacker was "extremely frustrated" with his role this past season, according to agent Harold Lewis. Scott has played three seasons with New York. Lewis claimed he didn't request a trade and nor has he received permission to seek one. However, that could be a matter of semantics at this point. Scott's "ultimate goal" is to stay with the Jets, according to the agent, who added: "If we can't fix what's broken, there will be other opportunities."

The Jets have given Bart Scott permission to seek a trade to another team. The linebacker has three years remaining on the six-year, $48 million contract he signed in 2009. Scott grew increasingly unhappy with his diminished playing time during New York's disappointing 8-8 season. He was routinely taken out on third downs due to the team's belief that he had difficulty in coverage.

The Colts are expected to take Andrew Luck with the first overall pick, but just who will use the second selection remains to be seen. It has been reported that the Rams are willing to trade the No. 2 pick for the right package and a number of teams have already had preliminary talks with St. Louis.

The Packers are not likely to use the franchise tag on backup quarterback Matt Flynn in order to engineer a sign-and-trade scenario, according to a report. Under league rules, Green Bay could apply the franchise tag to Flynn and then trade him rather than simply letting him become a free agent. "(The Packers) don't do business that way," a league source said. It's prohibited for teams to agree to such a deal before the franchise tag deadline, and one unnamed NFL team executive said that would be farther than Ted Thompson is willing to go. "(Thompson) doesn't bend the rules," the executive said.

The Lions are willing to trade Alphonso Smith and have shopped the cornerback to at least one team, according to a source. Smith, a second-round draft pick by Broncos in 2009, was traded to Detroit for tight end Dan Gronkowski.

The Eagles are open to trading wide receiver DeSean Jackson, according to sources. Philadelphia is expected to franchise Jackson. He averaged 57 receptions, 1,041 yards and six touchdowns in his first three seasons to go along with three touchdowns rushing and four on punt returns.
